I have a Low level requirement in excel with one column having the heading numbers of high level requirement.
Ex:
Object Text Link to Req
Requirement xx 1.2.9, 2.5.6
Requirement xx 1.2.10, 1.2.6
How can I automate linking Requirement xx to the high level requirement with heading 1.2.9 and 2.5.6?

I think you are hoping for a miracle here!
Firstly, you need to explain how your requirements are structured in DOORS. Are all of these requirements that need to be linked in the same DOORS module or are they in different DOORS modules? You also must have a solid understanding about how DOORS does linking - have you read the DOORS user manual about linking objects?
It is very difficult to write DXL that creates links based on heading numbers. DOORS creates links based on the Absolute Number assigned to every DOORS module object. To create a link from a source object to a target object using DXL, you need to know the name of the target DOORS module and the Absolute Number of the object in the target module that you want to link with, as well as the DOORS link module that will manage the link.
I recommend that you read the DOORS user manual and learn about the "Link by Attribute" feature of DOORS.

The two levels of requirements that need to be linked are in two different formal modules. As of now I have only the heading number. But I can export the high level requirement to an spreadsheet and get the mapping of section number to DOORS ID.
Now, if I have that mapping, how to proceed further in automating the link creation? A sample DXL script would be helpful.

OK - now I understand.
But I don't think that you need to use DXL. DOORS has a built in feature called "Link by Attribute". The Module menu path for this feature in DOORS version 9.2 is Link > Advanced > Link By Attribute.
This feature requires you to create a Text type object attribute and then for each object in that module, you add the Absolute Numbers of the objects in the other module that you want to link with. If there is more than one module that you want to link with, you have to create one attribute per module so that DOORS can determine which module you want to link with.
You will have to read up about the "Link by Attribute" feature to fully understand how to use it.
DOORS cannot guess to work out the link mapping from one object to another. Whatever method you choose, you still have to define the object to object absolute number link mapping first.

I now have the mapping between the low level requirements and the mapped high level requirement DOORS Id in an excel sheet.
Column1 Column2
Requirement Text DOORS Id of High Level Req
With this, I don't want to manually link by attributes. I want links to be created automatically between the requirement that will be uploaded and the DOORS Id of the high level req that are already there.

I still think that the DOORS "Link By Attribute" feature would be the best way to go here given that you have gone to the trouble of adding the Absolute Numbers (DOORS ID) of the requirements that you want to link with in into your Excel spreadsheet. The DOORS "Link By Attribute" feature is not a manual feature where you have to create links one by one - once set up it can create as many links as you need. It's worth reading up about this feature in the DOORS User Manual.
I don't have any DXL code that could help you here, maybe others on this forum have attempted something similar and will respond.

Thanks for the help. Link by Attribute worked fine.
